Former Branch President,  John McKitrick PhD,  died in New York on February 7. Dr. McKitrick was formerly Director of Clinical Microbiology at the University of Pennsylvania (pre-1981).   He served as President-Elect of the Branch from 1979-1981 and became the 32nd Branch President in July 1981.  John also served as Alternate Councilor (1975-77) and Councilor (1977-79(.  He left Philadelphia in October 1981 to take a position in NYC and Henry Beilstein (d July 10 2004) completed the term until 1983.   He was also influential in forming the Clinical Microbiology Section of the Branch which existed for several years. 


Dr. John Clifford, of Carmel, NY died on Thursday, February 7, 2013. John was an Associate Director of Microbiology in the Department of Pathology at Montefiore University Hospital in Bronx, NY. He was a Professor at Albert Einstein College of Medicine at Bronx, NY.He is survived by his wife Karen McKitrick; daughters Colleen Treml and her husband Paul Karina McKitrick; grandchildren Adam, Tyler and Hayley Treml; sister Rev. Dr. Janice Young and her husband Thomas; father and mother-in-law Jacob Spowal and his wife Dolores; brother–in-law Kenneth Spowal and his wife Betty; sister-in-law Janice Spowal. Also, numerous loving nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service will be in John’s honor on Saturday, March 2, 2013 at 10am in the United Methodist Church in Mount Kisco, 300 East Main St., Mount Kisco, NY.
